Writer’s Corner

Tips on Goal-Setting

1.     Make sure your writing goal is something you want for yourself; it has to be for yourself and no one else.
2.     Make sure you’re writing goals that don’t conflict or work against each other.
3.     Make sure your writing goals don’t work against your life in general.
4.     Always create positive writing goals; what will you do, not what you won’t.
5.     Keep your writing goals specific, but leave some room for creativity.
6.     Actually write down your writing goals.
7.     Revise your writing goals as you grow and develop as a writer every 6-12 months or as often as need be.
* As you establish your writing goals, start small so you don’t get overwhelmed.  Write down your core writing goals and make them simple and easy to accomplish, so that if you reach or surpass them, you’ll give yourself a nice confidence boost.
